The College
The UC College of Education has over 130 years experience in teacher training. Students are guided towards a career in education by expert lecturers in well-equipped facilities. The Christchurch campus includes spacious and serene grounds and excellent amenities, as well as a cafe, childcare centre, and a library which provides services and collections to support education, teaching and sports coaching. The library also holds children’s books and audio visual materials to support learning in the classroom.
Along with the Christchurch campus, other centres are based in Nelson, Tauranga, Rotorua and New Plymouth, and our Flexible Learning Option (FLO) allows students to study through combinations of distance and on-campus learning. Many of our programmes are available part-time. Please contact the University of Canterbury (www.canterbury.ac.nz) for information on our programmes.

• Bachelor of Education – Physical Education (4 years)
• Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning – Early Childhood Teaching (1 year)
• Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning – Primary (15 months)
• Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning – Secondary (1 year)

Postgraduate Study
The UC College of Education postgraduate and professional development programmes are designed to strengthen students' existing expertise with theory, research, knowledge and skills that give breadth and depth to their practice. Postgraduate study is achievable for graduates from all walks of life and circumstances. Many of the programmes are offered by distance delivery which can be organised around the busy schedules of teachers throughout New Zealand.

Programmes Offered
Programmes on offer include postgraduate certificates and diplomas, honours and master's degrees. Subject areas include Teaching and Learning, Education, Te Reo Mäori Bilingual and Immersion Teaching, Literacy, e-Learning and Digital Technologies, Inclusive and Special Education, Educational Leadership, Early Intervention, Deaf and Hearing Impairment, Learning and Behaviour, Child and Family Psychology, Counselling and Clinical Teaching. PhD options are also available.
