Detailed Profile
Telford - A Division of Lincoln University
General Description
Telford has been specialising in land-based education for over 45 years. Based in Balclutha, South Otago, Telford educates and prepares students for careers in agriculture, equine, forestry and beekeeping through its one year Certificate courses (37 week courses) and offers a second year Diploma in Rural Business (Level 5) qualification.
Practical training plays a major role in all certificate courses and tuition is given on Telford’s sheep and beef, dairy, deer, forestry, equine and beekeeping units. The polytechnic’s own practical skills centres provide students with training in fencing, carpentry, mechanics, engineering and computing. As part of the practical programme students have regular work experience on external farms.
A major strength of Telford is its staff. They are all highly skilled and knowledgeable and have a wealth of experience in their respective fields. Student numbers are small enough to allow individual attention from tutors as and when necessary.
Many scholarships are available and students are encouraged to apply early. Taster weeks are held during term holidays. Come and take the 3 day Telford experience for yourself. Details and the application form are on our website www.telford.ac.nz
