Otago, New Zealand's first university, was founded in 1869. It is a progressive & innovative university, with a tradition of quality & an excellent reputation. It has over 19,000 students, 2,200 of whom are studying at postgraduate level (Masters' & Doctorate Degrees).

The campus is one of the most beautiful & closely knit in New Zealand. Within the campus, students can find everything they need to meet their academic, social, sporting & cultural requirements.

Academic Courses
Otago is the only university in NZ to offer degree courses in: Dentistry, Dental Technology, Physical Education, Surveying & Consumer and Applied Sciences.

Other degree courses are available in: Arts, Applied Sciences, Music, Theology, Teaching, Law, Science, Medicine, Medical Laboratory Science, Oral Health, Tourism, Commerce, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy & Social Work. Almost all subjects offer degree courses at all levels to Doctorates & beyond.

The University of Otago also offers a Foundation Year programme for students who are without a direct entry qualification to University. The programme is available to students who have completed 10-12 years of schooling but need one more year to prepare for University Admission. The University also has a Language Centre where students are offered the best in learning to write, read, listen to & understand English.
