IntroductionVilla Maria College is a Catholic school for girls established in 1918 by the Sisters of Mercy. We are committed to the education and empowerment of young women. Our College is set in 4.5 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds.
Location and FacilitiesVilla Maria College has excellent sporting and information technology facilities. The College has three fully equipped computer suites, a Library Information Resource Centre and a modern auditorium, music suite and gymnasium. Our outdoor facilities incorporate six multi-purpose courts for tennis, netball and hockey along with sports fields and a swimming pool. Academic ProgrammeWe are extremely proud of our reputation as a top performing college for girls. Our highly-qualified staff are dedicated, friendly and helpful. All students are encouraged to strive for excellence and our public examination results always exceed the national average. The College offers a broad curriculum which prepares students for university and other tertiary education. Subjects on offer include:

• Arts: music, drama, design, sculpture, art history and classics
• Languages: English, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Te Reo Māori and ESOL
• Technology: text and information management, food technology, materials technology and computing at all levels.
EnglishWe take care of our students’ language needs and provide them with individual language support programmes. All international students are tested on arrival for language proficiency and are required to have intermediate level language skills to cope with mainstream classes.
Student WelfareVilla Maria College strives to create a family-like atmosphere for its International Students. We have a team of three dedicated staff who support each student. Our Director of International Students, her assistant and a Homestay Coordinator expertly care for the girls’ academic and social needs. We have our very own ‘Buddy Programme’ which sees each international student teamed up with a kiwi student who takes a special interest in their lives and becomes their friend.
