St Paul’s College (Ponsonby)

Environment
St Paul’s College is situated in Ponsonby, a convenient central location approximately 2 kms from the heart of Auckland city. The buildings are modern, with new Technology and Computer Centres, situated in over
5 hectares of parklands. Field trips to the Auckland War Memorial Museum, the Auckland City Art Gallery, the Auckland Zoo and Museum of Transport and Technology are within walking distance.

Special Character
A Catholic education influenced by the Marist Brothers. Founded in 1903, the College is a state integrated College. Uniform is compulsory.
The College is allowed a maximum roll of 400. This results in a friendly atmosphere where all students are known and respected, with an emphasis on their individual needs.

Courses Available
A comprehensive range of traditional senior subjects including English, ESOL, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Calculus, Statistics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Art, Design, Painting, Graphics, Design Technology, Computer Studies, Economics, Accounting, Geography, History, Communications Studies, Travel and Tourism as well as Physical Education and Religious Education.

Facilities
St Paul’s College has all the facilities one would expect of a modern secondary school, including a new Technology Centre, a computer centre, 2 gymnasia, library, large playing fields and courts and a College bus for field trips and sport.

Extracurricular Programme
In the Arts, the College caters for public speaking, debating, choir, music, chess, cultural festivals and community art work such as ‘Artists in Residence’. In Sports, the College is the current top Rugby League school in Auckland, and in New Zealand. Other sports taken include rugby, soccer, basketball, softball, cricket, volleyball, athletics and swimming.

Programme for International Students
Our experience with overseas students extends over 40 years. High quality, individual and group tuition is given to students to develop their skills in the English language and to prepare and focus students for the New Zealand Qualifications Authority National Certificates in Educational Achievement, including University Entrance examinations, and for tertiary courses at both universities and polytechnics.

Accommodation
Homestay arrangements can be made through the College. All aspects of students’ welfare are given high priority by the College’s guidance and counselling system.

Fees
The annual fee for international students in 2008 is NZ$10,500.
