General Description
Sacred Heart College is a day and boarding school with over 100 years of Marist tradition that upholds the values of our founder St Marcellin Champagnat. Located on a magnificent site of 22 hectares of park like grounds; 20 minutes from the centre of New Zealand's biggest city, Auckland, Sacred Heart College is a leading boys' school offering an all-round education from Years 7-13. NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3 pass rates are consistently among the highest nationally for boys schools.
Since its founding by the Marist Brothers in 1903, the College has built an outstanding tradition of success in academic, sporting and cultural activities. Old Boys of Sacred Heart are numbered among New Zealand's top musicians, academics, artists, sportsmen and religious and civil leaders.
The College has a roll of just over 1000 students, who come from diverse economic, geographic and ethnic backgrounds, including international students. A 160-bed hostel caters for students who need to live onsite.
The staff of the College have high standards and expectations of every student. Emphasis is placed on providing each student with an education, which encompasses academic, spiritual, social and physical achievement in order to prepare him to face a changing and complex world.
Sacred Heart College is equipped with impressive facilities which include a state of the art technology block, 3 heated swimming pools, large gymnasium, modern computer laboratories, and a comprehensive library.
International Students
The College is a signatory to the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students and takes the welfare and education of its students very seriously. The College has had many years experience hosting International students from all over the world. The number of International students are small which enables students to be readily integrated into College life. The College has three specialist English language teachers who teach small groups of students according to their English language learning needs.
International students Year 9 to 13 have the choice of boarding or home stay accommodation. International students in Years 7 & 8 are enrolled only if at least one parent lives in New Zealand with them fulltime.
Hostel fees: approx $9,000 per year; Homestay fees: $230 per week.
Tuition fees: $15,000 NZ, covers all tuition and textbooks.
All students must have full medial and travel insurance and all students must have a suitable guardian living in New Zealand.
