Co-ed; State Secondary School; Student Roll: 1600; Year 9–13.
Situated in Christchurch, the largest city in the South Island.
Papanui High School is a Christchurch community-based state co-educational secondary school with a roll of 1600 students from Yr 9 to Yr 13. The school has welcomed international students for the past 27 years and has approximately 50 full-time students this year. The student population is diverse with students coming from a range of cultural backgrounds.
There is a strong academic focus on teaching and learning in first-class modern facilities. The technology classes are impressive. There are also 3 adult ESOL classes and a unit for disabled students on-site. International students are well-cared for by a dedicated staff of 4 – a director, dean, homestay co-ordinator and an administration assistant. Students are encouraged to participate in school life and join club activities.
