Nga Tawa Diocesan School

Location
Nga Tawa School is set in 50 acres of park-like grounds 30 minutes from both Palmerston North and Wanganui and two hours from Wellington. Skiing fields and outdoor education centres are within an hour of the school.
Special Character
The school is an Anglican boarding school with students of all denominations. Recreational opportunities include a world class equestrian academy with capacity for 100 horses, a 1200m canter track and three arenas, separate paddocks, stables, a multipurpose Events Centre, a number of sports fields and a climbing wall.
Courses Available
Students are well prepared for university education with NCEA pass rates of around 100% at all three levels and endorsements well above the national average. The International Baccalaureate is successfully offered and a number of students also undertake Polytech and UCOL papers.
Facilities
Nga Tawa offers outstanding cultural and sporting facilities including turf courts, a full sized gymnasium, a weights room and spacious common/recreational rooms.
Boarding facilities are excellent with well appointed rooms in the junior school and individual rooms in Years 11 and 12. Cottage accommodation is available to Year 13 boarders who are encouraged to develop independence and self responsibility prior to University.
Extramural Sports and Arts
A wide range of sports and cultural activities are offered including debating, oratory and public speaking, speech and drama, dancing, singing, choir, flute, trumpet, piano, guitar, strings, clarinet, equestrian and outdoor education, tramping, rafting and abseiling, the Young New Zealanders’ Challenge (Duke of Edinburgh Award), photography, painting and pottery, House drama and House music, school magazine, tennis, swimming, athletics, softball, cricket, hockey, netball, basketball, squash, triathlon and duathlon. Our choirs and instrumental groups are nationally recognised and our equestrian and sporting successes are outstanding including many national title holders and one junior world champion. Outdoor camps are also part of the curriculum.
Programme for International Students
Nga Tawa welcomes overseas students from a variety of destinations. We keep numbers small so that we can give them individual attention. A strong international culture is fostered with regular whole school celebrations, dinners and themed weekends.
Accommodation/Boarding
International students live in the boarding facilities which are extremely modern and attractive. Year 13 students live in cottages where many friends are made. All boarding is on our school grounds with modern facilities available to the students.

Fees
For International students (who are not New Zealand citizens) the tuition fee is NZ$16,875 per year (incl GST) and the boarding fee is NZ$16,000 per year (incl GST).
For New Zealand citizens the total fees are $16,123.88 for boarders and $4,884.10 for day students.
