Special Character
Marist College is a Catholic secondary school for girls. It was founded in 1928 and was integrated into the state system in 1981. It has a roll of about 750. The College’s mission statement is to ‘provide excellence in academic education founded on living Catholic values and the spirit of Mary’.
Courses Available
Marist College is a high achieving school that prepares all students for Tertiary education. The College offers a wide range of subjects. Besides traditional academic subjects of English, Languages (Te Reo Maori, French and Mandarin), Mathematics, Commerce (Economics and Accounting), Social Sciences (History and Geography), Music, Art, and Science (Chemistry, Biology and Physics), the school offers courses in Computer Studies, Fabric Technology, Photography, Health, Media Studies, Art History, Classical Studies, Physical Education and a number of Bridging and Transition courses run in liaison with various polytechnics and other educational providers. Religious Studies are taken at every level.

The College is well resourced with many attractive classrooms, gymnasium, Science laboratories, Library, Art/Photography and Music block.
Extra Curricular Programme
Girls at the College are encouraged to take part in a wide variety of extra curricular activities. Sports include Aerobics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Gymnastics, Hockey, Kilikiti, Netball, Orienteering, Softball, Table Tennis, Trampolining, Triathlon, Touch Rugby and Volleyball. Cultural activities include Debating, Drama, Choir, Orchestra, Singing, Samoan and Tongan Cultural groups, Indian group, and various service groups operate in the College.
Programme for International Students
International students are welcome in the school. Special support is available in the development of English Language Skills. The school has a number of programmes to prepare international students for universities, polytechnics and future careers.
Fees
Annual fees for international students are NZ$16,675 (including GST) payable in advance plus $400 administration fee. This covers course costs and textbooks. Items not included in the annual fee are: uniforms, stationery, field trips and extracurricular activities such as sports fees, trips and examination fees.
Homestays
Homestays are arranged with Marist families – cost $250 weekly plus a placement fee of $250.
