Co-educational state day school, Years 9–13 (13 to 18 years old)
Student roll: 700. Henderson High School is situated in Henderson, a suburb in West Auckland, 20 minutes from Auckland City.

Unique Features
Henderson High School welcomes international students to experience the benefits of studying in a New Zealand multicultural, co-educational school. Founded in 1953, the school provides a friendly, supportive community environment, 20 minutes from central Auckland, and close to the beautiful Waitakere Ranges and West Coast beaches.
Each year the school hosts international students from a number of countries including Taiwan, Thailand, Germany, Brazil, China, Japan, Vietnam and Korea.

Student Support
The school has a long established guidance network with a full-time guidance counsellor and a school doctor. The Homestay Coordinator and the Deans of each year provide student support in all pastoral care matters. This includes enrolment, orientation, academic programmes, insurance, designated caregiver and homestay arrangements. Henderson High School is a signatory to The Code of Practice for the Care of International Students. Regular contact is maintained between school staff, the homestay service and each student and their homestay family.

Language (ESOL) Support
All levels of English language proficiency are accepted. Small group tuition is provided for international students for whom English is a second language. ESOL support and classes are available. Senior students are prepared for the English literacy standards required for entry into New Zealand universities.

Accommodation
The school arranges quality accommodation with carefully chosen local families. The current accommodation charge, payable to the school, is NZ$240 per week.

Curriculum
For years 9 to 13, we offer a wide range of national curriculum subjects for the New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA). Students are prepared to attend tertiary institutions and can undertake multi-level study.

Extracurricular Activities
International students are encouraged to take part in the numerous activities offered at school. Drama, music and performing arts are strong features of the school. We offer individual musical instrument instruction, musical performance groups and school productions. Students are encouraged to choose from the full range of individual and team sports and outdoor activities offered.

Fees
In 2012 the tuition fees will be NZ$11,000.
