Mission Statement
Altiora Peto - I seek Higher Things
To challenge each pupil to realise his potential in the pursuit of academic, cultural and sporting excellence.
The school provides a high quality academic education and a range of sporting and cultural activities, where boys accept responsibility and grow in self respect, with a concern for others.
It is a modern school with a rich past. The school has a blend of new and recently modernised classrooms, newly built hall and library, laboratories, art studios, music suite, technical workshops, gymnasia, drama room, all weather sports training area, solar heated swimming pool and spacious grounds (11.6 ha) for summer and winter sports. Adams House Hostel, in nearby Harakeke Street, accommodates 130 boarders. Kidson House, located in Arthur’s Pass National Park, is maintained for outdoor education.
The school attracts highly motivated and well qualified teachers who participate in school activities outside the classroom. Apart from the traditional range of positions of responsibility, there are teachers responsible for sports and special programmes. Itinerant music teachers and other specialists enrich the range of options available to the pupils. The school is well served by dedicated and capable administration, building and grounds staff.
