Auckland Girls’ Grammar School

Established in 1888, Auckland Girls’ Grammar combines a strong tradition of academic excellence with a reputation for being in the forefront of educational development.
Location
Situated close to Auckland’s Central Business District, Auckland City Central Library, the University of Auckland, Auckland University of Technology, art galleries and theatres. Close to all major transport routes.
Facilities
Modern well-equipped science laboratories, new technology block, computer suites, art workshops and photographic facilities.
Music suite with mini-lab computer technology, an 800-seat auditorium,
2 gymnasiums, swimming and diving pools. Large, well-appointed cafeteria.
Academic Programme
Auckland Girls offers the NZ qualification NCEA, which permits entry to University and other tertiary institutions. All the seven learning areas of the NZ curriculum – Technology (Computing, Graphics and Design), the Arts (Music, Fine Arts), Languages (English, Latin, French, Spanish, Japanese, Samoan, Mäori) Maths, Science, Social Sciences and Physical Education.
Learning Centre offers programmes for both gifted students and those needing extra help.
English Language Assistance
A full range of English classes for students who need extra assistance from Beginners to preparing for University studies.
Extracurricular Programme
A wide range of cultural activities is offered from debating, drama, orchestra and choir through to cultural groups.
Students are able to learn to play musical instruments at school.
Almost all team and individual sports.
International Relationships
Auckland Girls’ 1400 students (including International students) come from about 50 cultures.
In International Week students share each other’s cultures.
We also have school trips to various parts of the world including Samoa, Europe and America.
Student Welfare
The Dean of International Students and International Student Coordinator are available to help with any problems students may have either at school or home. The school also employs two fully trained guidance counsellors and a registered nurse.
Accommodation
We require all our students to join our Homestay Programme which is overseen by our International Student Coordinator.
We use responsible homestay agencies to organise and supervise homestays with caring families. Homestay fees for 2010 are NZ$11,500.

Tuition Fees
NZ$12,500 for 2010 (subject to annual review).
Uniform for Year 9 to Year 12 costs approximately NZ$400.
Small additional subject charges for individual subjects and class trips may amount to approximately $200.
