General Description
Al-Madinah was founded in 1992 with very few students but today we are at our maximum roll of 480 students. It is a Muslim state integrated composite school offering education from Year 1 to 13. The school is just 10 minutes drive from the Auckland International Airport on the outskirts of Mangere.

Special Character of the School
The special character of Al-Madinah School is based on Islamic faith and belief. We aim to develop students spiritually, intellectually and physically to their full potential in an Islamic environment. It is co-educational from Years 1 to 6. From Years 7 to 13 girls and boys are taught separately.

Educational Purpose and General Goals – Mission Statement
Al-Madinah aims to develop students spiritually, intellectually and physically to their full potential in an Islamic environment. The Islamic code of ethics is the basis for the school’s daily life and forms the basis of regular instruction and worship in the Islamic tradition.

Objectives
• To promote the development of Islamic personality (Akhlaq).
• To provide a safe, caring environment within the school.
• To encourage the development of each student at his or her own pace and capability.
• To nurture and develop the individual for his or her role as khalifah of Allah Subhanahu wa Taála.

Curriculum
Primary/Junior Secondary (Years 1 to 10)
English, Maths, Languages, Science, Social Studies,Technology, Arts, PE/Health, Islamic Studies, Quran reading and Hifz. Special Needs, Gifted and Talented and ESOL Programmes are also in place to ensure all students’ needs are catered for.

Senior Secondary (Years 11 to 13)
English, Languages (Arabic/Urdu), Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Science, Graphics, Technology, Computers, Information Management, Accounting, Economics, Sports, Home Economics, Islamic Studies, Quran Reading and Hifz. Other subjects can be offered on request and on availability of resources.

Foreign Fee Paying (FPP) (International Students)
The School caters for Foreign Fee Paying (FPP) students from overseas countries. We have had FPP students from Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia studying at this school.

English Language Proficiency
Students are assessed on arrival and placed according to their level of competence. ESOL classes are available as part of the tuition fees by qualified experienced teachers.
