Environment
Tauranga Intermediate is a State Intermediate School established in 1958 with 1150 students aged from 10-13 years.
It is located in the Bay of Plenty region and lies adjacent to Mount Maunganui which is a popular seaside resort offering a range of outdoor pursuits.
Special Character
Tauranga Intermediate offers a unique blend of NZ education with a wide range of academic, social and recreational opportunities. The school won the large Primary/Intermediate School of the year in 2000/2001 and was runner up in 2002 recognising it as New Zealand's premier emerging adolescent educational institution. A team of students also won the World Future Problem Solving Championships in the USA during 2000/2001.
Tauranga Intermediate School owns its own outdoor education lodge situated adjacent to New Zealand's native (indigenous) forest and rivers. This lodge offers learning opoprtunities in an outdoor environment with a selection of challenging activities such as: kayaking, high and low ropes course, rock wall, archery, orienteering, compass.
Programme of Work
Tauranga Intermediate School prides itself on providing high quality education in English language, mathematics, science, technology, social sciences, the Arts, physical education and health, international languages, learning education outside the classroom and indigenous language (Te Reo) and culture (tikanga).
It has excellent facilities and resources to deliver all these areas of the curriculum.
International students have a specialist ESOL programme and tutor. They are integrated into the mainstream classes and participate in all curriculum areas.
Accommodation
The school is able to offer home stay through the International Student Director. Homes are comfortable and secure and have been selected and approved by our school. The school will monitor and ensure that all the home stay environments are friendly and supportive for our students.
Fees
Annual tuition fees are NZ$11,250 (incl. tax).
All fees are payable in advance.

Learning Education Outside the Classroom/stationery/school bus fare if applicable.
Home stay NZ $170 per week.
Initial homestay placement fee of $150.00.
The school reserves the right to review all fees annually.

The climate is temperate with a warm summer and moderate winter. The average temperature ranges between 15-28 C in summer and 8-15 C in the winter.
